Planning a Reveg Project
Six main steps to planning a reveg project with site assessment being the most important.
SITE ASSESSMENT
A good form or checklist will assist to ensure you gather all the required info at the site assessment and saving you making another trip out to the site.
Once you have completed the site assessment form you can then document the details - this is the first stage in developing a plan.
SITE DETAILS - the area to be revegetated, its location, dimensions and area in m2
SITE PREPARATION RECOMMENDATIONS - Weed control recommendations must specify the treatment technique, chem used, rate, timing, estimate of labour and materials costs
WATER CONSERVATION ISSUES - What is the current state of the site? Is the site exsposed (bare soil) is there thatch, mulch? What is the plan for water conservation at the revegetation site
GRAZERS - Is there evidence of pest animals, livestock or native animals present on site? What will need to be done to protect the planting from grazers? What are the options and which to you think is the best fit
SITE ACCESS- access issues, vandalisms OHS&E – any site specific issues
